Position Summary The Pharmacy Technician supports the licensed pharmacist in providing safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care. This role ensures smooth day-to-day pharmacy operations, accurate dispensing, inventory control, and excellent customer service across retail and wholesale. Key Responsibilities Dispensing & Technical Support • Assist the Pharmacist in accurately dispensing prescriptions to clients. • Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications in line with Prime Pharmacy protocols. • Prepare extemporaneous preparations as directed by the Pharmacist. • Maintain strict compliance with dispensing guidelines and confidentiality standards. Inventory & Stock Management • Receive and verify deliveries of pharmaceutical stock and products. • Ensure proper storage and arrangement of drugs according to FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles. • Regularly update stock records and promptly report discrepancies or low stock levels. • Handle returns and expired products according to Prime Pharmacy’s disposal policy. Customer Service • Attend to walk-in clients professionally and guide them to the Pharmacist where required. • Provide information on non-prescription products under Pharmacist supervision. • Promote Prime Pharmacy’s products and services while ensuring client satisfaction. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation • Ensure that all prescriptions are processed in accordance with Pharmacy Council regulations and internal SOPs. • Maintain accurate records of sales, prescriptions, and controlled substances as required. • Participate in audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives. Operational Efficiency & Team Support • Work collaboratively with the pharmacy team to meet daily operational targets. • Support the Pharmacist in maintaining order and cleanliness in the dispensary. • Assist in orientation and mentoring of interns, student assistants, and new hires as delegated. Qualification Required & Experience • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Pharmacy Technician/Technology recognized by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana • Valid registration and practicing license with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana • Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in community or retail pharmacy practice with multiple branches. Skill and Competency Requirements • Strong attention to detail and precision in dispensing. • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. • Sound knowledge of pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical products. • Proficiency in Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and pharmacy software. • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and follow strict procedures. • High level of integrity, professionalism, and teamwork.
