Description

Job Purpose •To provide legal instruments such as contracts, loan agreements, leases, for the commission •Liaises with divisional heads to ensure that regulatory and compliance requirements are properly adhered to •Provides legal advice to management in the conduct of business of the commission •Manages the commission's legal affairs and ensures compliance with statutory legislations and laid down policies •Represents the commission on legal issues that may be brought before a court of law and tribunal •Compiles cases for consideration and appropriate action •Provides technical advice to functional heads in matters relating to risk management and compliance to prevent regulatory breaches and regulatory fines •Facilitates the formulation of risk management and compliance policies and ensures compliance with statutory policies •Supervises the compliance with the relevant media policies, legal and regulatory provisions by media enterprises, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) •Collates data for the preparations of the annual and other periodic reports for the unit •Arbitrates in conflict situations involving NMC and third parties Qualification Required & Experience •A minimum of a Master's Degree in Law (LLM) from an accredited tertiary institution •A Barrister at Law (BL) from an accredited tertiary institution •Must have been called to the Ghana Bar •A minimum of 4 years of post call relevant work experience in a reputable organisation •Must pass a competitive selection interview In-Service Entry •Availability of a vacancy in the grade Senior Legal Manager. •A minimum of 3 years on the grade of Legal Manager •Must have a satisfactory staff performance assessment report •Must pass a competitive selection interview Competencies •Knowledge of Ghana's legal system and its operation •Leadership, networking, monitoring and management skills •Communication and presentation skills •Negotiating, lobbying, advocacy and conflict resolution skills •Capacity to inspire and motivate people around him/her •Knowledge in finance, procurement, budgeting and auditing regulations •Working knowledge of computer applications •Knowledge of international conventions and treaties on human rights and civil liberties Training •Continuous Professional Development •Organizational development and change management •Corporate governance and leadership courses •Senior management development programmes •Report writing Location: Accra How To Apply For The Job Interested and qualified applicants may apply, providing an up-to-date detailed curriculum vitae with contact information (postal and email address, telephone number) and contact details 3 referees, who can attest to the applicant's professional competencies Applications should be submitted to any of the following address to: The Executive Secretary National Media Commission P.O.Box SD 114 Sports Stadium Accra Hand-deliver documents to NMC's office to: 1st Rangoon Close Cantonments Accra Closing Date: 08 May, 2026
