Requirements
ISOPTERRA
is a Hamburg-based architecture and construction studio working on design-led projects across Ghana and Cameroon. We build with compressed earth blocks (CEB), rammed earth and other climate-responsive techniques, combining contemporary design with local craft and materials. Our current work includes a resort development on the Ghanaian coast and educational and community buildings delivered with local partner organisations.
We are currently based in Hamburg, Germany, and are working towards establishing a permanent design office in Ghana. Joining us now means growing with the studio from an early stage, with the opportunity to help shape that office as it develops.
We are looking for an Architectural Draughtsperson, ideally with an architectural
A qualification or training in architecture, architectural technology, or building/construction drawing
Confident, practical skills in at least one of: SketchUp, ArchiCAD or Revit (additional proficiency in the others is an advantage)
Comfortable working with Microsoft Outlook and Office (Word, Excel)
A strong eye for design and the ability to produce drawings that go beyond conventional, standard layouts
Solid understanding of construction documentation and technical detailing for execution drawings
Good written and spoken English
Own laptop capable of running SketchUp, ArchiCAD or Revit smoothly (this is a remote role; no office equipment is provided)
Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop or similar is a plus (for presentation drawings and layout work)
Willingness to occasionally travel to project sites in Ghana as needed

- This role starts as a freelance collaboration on a service contract basis, with the prospect of moving into a permanent position as our project pipeline and future Ghana office develop.
- This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys precise technical drawing as well as design work that goes beyond standard, off-the-shelf solutions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design drawings (concept and preliminary layouts) that reflect ISOPTERRA's design language, not generic or standard solutions
- Develop detailed construction drawings for tender and execution, including plans, sections, elevations and details
- Work in SketchUp, ArchiCAD or Revit to produce and update 2D and 3D drawings throughout the design and construction process
- Coordinate drawing revisions with the Hamburg design team and incorporate site feedback from local supervisors and contractors
- Support quantity take-offs and drawing packages for bills of quantities (BoQ) where required
- Maintain organised, well-labelled drawing sets and revision records
