Position Summary The Medicine Counter Assistant is responsible for supporting the Pharmacy Manager and pharmacist with daily operations of the pharmacy, particularly with the sales of over-the-counter (OTC) medications and other pharmacy products, and is responsible for shelf arrangements and cleaning of products, and other administrative support. The successful candidate must have experience in Microsoft Applications and an ERP program. Key Responsibilities Customer Service • Assist walk-in customers as required, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of all pharmaceutical product offerings • Provide information and advice on OTC medicines, health supplements, and general healthcare. • Manage sales transactions and cashiering, ensuring zero income leakage. Pharmacist Support • Assist pharmacists with the organization of prescriptions and the distribution of medication. • Ensure proper labeling and packaging of prescribed medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. Stock Management • Receive and verify deliveries against orders. • Stock shelves and ensure that display areas are organized and clean. • Conduct regular stock checks and manage inventory to minimize expired stock. Compliance and Safety • Adhere to legal requirements, ethical standards, and company policies. • Ensure the pharmacy environment is safe for staff and customers by maintaining hygiene and safety standards. • Report any medication errors or safety concerns to the pharmacy manager or pharmacist immediately. Admin and Recordkeeping • Keep accurate records of sales and cash handling. • Perform basic administrative tasks, including managing records of transactions and customer details where required. • Ensure the pharmacy location facility is well-maintained at all times Qualification Required & Experience • Certificate in Medicine Counter Assistant (MCA) recognized by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana • Valid registration and practicing license with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana • Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in community or retail pharmacy practice with multiple branches. • Experience in using an ERP system.
