Job Description
Position Overview
Electrofax Engineering Services (GH) Ltd is seeking highly skilled and experienced Electric Motor Rewinders (LV & MV) to join its engineering team. The role is focused on the inspection, diagnosis, rewinding, repair, refurbishment, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electric motors used in industrial and mining environments.
The successful candidates will apply sound technical judgement, follow established safety and quality standards, and work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Key
Responsibilities
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in LV and MV AC electric motors.
- Perform complete motor overhauls, including dismantling, cleaning, inspection, bearing replacement, drying, rewinding, assembly, and testing.
- Carry out motor rewinding and restore windings to OEM specifications and applicable technical standards.
- Inspect stators, rotors, windings, bearings, shafts, insulation systems, and other motor components.
- Conduct condition assessments and identify potential equipment failures before they occur.
- Perform electrical tests, including insulation resistance, polarization index, winding resistance, surge comparison where applicable, and high-voltage testing.
- Conduct vibration analysis and support shaft alignment and mechanical troubleshooting activities.
- Install, commission, and maintain electric motors at workshop and client sites.
- Supervise motor maintenance and repair activities during planned shutdowns and site assignments.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, winding data, technical manuals, and OEM documentation.
- Prepare accurate technical and service reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Support emergency breakdown response and planned maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work complies with OEM requirements, applicable international standards, and company procedures.
- Maintain high standards of workplace safety, workmanship, and quality.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, supervisors, and client representatives to complete assignments efficiently.
- Educational And Professional
Requirements
- NVTI Part 1 and 2, HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven hands-on
Experience
- working with industrial LV and MV electric motors.
- Strong practical knowledge of induction motors, slip-ring motors, synchronous motors, and associated control systems.
- Proven
- in motor inspection, rewinding, repair, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills.
- working in mining, power generation, cement, oil and gas, or heavy industrial environments will be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel and work at project and client sites across Ghana.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional standards.
