The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined. We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as per the details below: POSITION: Trainer, Jumbo Equipment DEPARTMENT: Mining LEVEL: I H LOCATION: Obuasi Mine Ghana EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Fixed Term Contract OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE •To train, assess, and develop operators on Jumbo drilling equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality drilling performance. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES •Deliver structured training on Jumbo drilling operations (e.g., face drilling, pattern accuracy, hole alignment). •Train operators on safe equipment handling in compliance with mine safety standards and procedures. •Assess trainee competency using practical and theoretical evaluations. •Coach operators on drilling accuracy, penetration rates, and productivity optimization. •Ensure correct application of drill plans, mark-ups, and geological instructions. •Monitor and correct operator behavior in confined underground environments. •Train on pre-start inspections and equipment checks. •Guide operators on basic troubleshooting and fault reporting. •Promote adherence to ground support requirements and safe drilling practices. •Maintain training records, competency matrices, and progress tracking systems. •Support implementation of Train-the-Trainer and coaching frameworks. •Reinforce safety culture, hazard identification, and risk mitigation practices. •Collaborate with supervisors to identify skill gaps and training needs. •Ensure compliance with OEM (e.g., Sandvik) operating standards and procedures. •Mentor trainees to achieve independent operator status and certification readiness. Qualification Required & Experience Education & Qualification •Must possess a Diploma or Certificate in Drilling Technology •Must possess an NVTI certificate, HND in Mechanical Engineering or any Technician certificate with good grades •Must hold Mincom Certificate in Jumbo Operation •Must have a recognized Train-the-Trainer and Assessor certification. Experience •Must have a minimum of 5 – 8 years relevant experience as a Jubo equipment Trainer and underground mining experience •Must have a recognized Train-the-Trainer and Assessor certification Legal Requirements •Valid drivers’ licence Technical Competencies •Must demonstrate understanding of equipment Safety •Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills •Must demonstrate ability to train, assess, and provide constructive feedback •Must be able to work in shifts and underground mining condition Functional Competencies •Ability to work underground as required, including travel between work areas •Capable of using a computer for extended periods in an office environment. •Physically fit to meet site medical and functional capacity requirements Knowledge & Skills •Understanding of equipment safety. •Good communication and interpersonal skills. •Ability to train, assess, and provide constructive feedback. •Medically fit for underground mining work. •Able to work in shifts and underground mining conditions. •Ability to work underground as required, including travel between work areas. •Capable of using a computer for extended periods in an office environment. •Physically fit to meet site medical and functional capacity requirements.
