Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end technical direction across web, mobile, and backend platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals. Drive pragmatic architectural decisions around modular monolith vs. microservices, including defining service boundaries, integration patterns, and consistency tradeoffs. Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to create clear domain boundaries, bounded contexts, aggregates, and domain events. Set and enforce high standards for code quality, testing, API contracts, and documentation across the engineering team. Partner closely with Product Owners and Project Managers to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, break epics into deliverable slices, and estimate work realistically. Plan sprints and releases, manage dependencies and risks, and balance product speed with technical sustainability (technical debt, refactoring, platform improvements). Lead and mentor engineers through pair programming, design reviews, code reviews, and coaching. Build a strong engineering culture centred on ownership, quality, and continuous improvement. Support hiring and onboarding processes as the team grows. Lead development of high-quality user experiences on web (React/Next.js) and mobile (React Native), guiding choices around state management, performance, and component architecture. Ensure UI quality standards including responsive design, accessibility, and polished mobile user experiences. Own backend design and implementation in .NET Core, including API design, security fundamentals, and resilient application patterns. Drive database design and performance optimization, including schema design, migrations, indexing, and query tuning. Establish observability foundations to monitor system health and performance. Provide engineering input into prioritization, timelines, and technical trade-offs during product planning.
