Position Overview
The Natural Resource Governance Institute is seeking an experienced Ghana Economic Analyst to join its Ghana programme in Accra. The role advances analytical and policy work on natural-resource governance in Ghana, with a focus on revenue management, oil and gas, mining and minerals, energy transition and transition minerals.
The Economic Analyst will generate research, data and analysis that informs policy discussions and contributes to improved governance of Ghana's natural resources.
Key
Responsibilities
- Conduct strategic economic research on extractive-industry governance, revenue management, energy transition, transition minerals and related policy areas.
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify economic, fiscal and governance trends affecting Ghana's natural-resource sector.
- Develop economic and financial models to support evidence-based policy analysis.
- Collect, analyse and synthesise complex datasets from multiple sources.
- Translate technical economic findings into practical policy recommendations.
- Produce high-quality research reports, policy briefs, blogs, analytical papers and other thought-leadership outputs.
- Contribute to NRGI's research agenda and Ghana programme strategy.
- Provide economic analysis and technical assistance to support programme strategy and implementation.
- Work with government and non-state actors to address policy and governance challenges.
- Design and deliver training programmes, workshops and capacity-development activities.
- Manage assigned projects, coordinate consultants, monitor milestones and support monitoring, evaluation and learning activities.
- Contribute to funding proposals, donor reporting and donor-engagement materials.
- Build relationships with government institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, private-sector organisations and other stakeholders.
- Qualifications And
Experience
- Master's degree in Economics or a related field is required.
- Additional academic or professional training in public finance, taxation, natural-resource economics, energy economics, development economics or related areas is an advantage.
- Minimum of five years' professional
- as an economic analyst within international development or a related policy environment.
- At least two years'
- in extractive-industry governance in Ghana, or demonstrated
- in public financial management, taxation, microeconomic policy, state-owned enterprise management, energy transition, transition minerals or natural-resource revenue management.
- Demonstrated
- working with government and non-state actors on development and economic policy issues in Ghana.
