About the Role
Ocean Network Express (ONE) is hiring a Head of Operations to take overall strategic responsibility for the full range of operational activities, priorities and targets within its Ghana operation, working to the highest operational standards in line with commercial requirements. The role reports to the Director (Ghana) and oversees Senior Coordinator and Coordinator Operations staff, with the aim of optimising KPI achievement in close cooperation with ONE's Sub Regional Headquarters.
Leadership & Commercial Responsibility
Provide direction, vision and strategy for direct and indirect reports, actively managing performance and developing talent within the team.
Lead negotiation and preparation of vendor costs and tariffs with regional headquarters, and prepare management reports that support robust decision-making.
Review and negotiate new vendor contracts, monitor departmental costs for savings opportunities, and take commercial decisions beyond the authority level of other staff.
Operational Oversight
Build a centre of excellence for operations, ensuring cost and commercial awareness across all operational disciplines and that profit margins are managed accordingly.
Act as the main point of escalation (before the Director) for operational issues and complaints, and as senior contact in vendor and customer negotiations to secure contracts.
Maintain strong internal and external relationships globally to optimise communication and process efficiency, and lead change management when new strategies, working practices or procedures are introduced.
What You Bring
At least 15 years of overall work
in a management and leadership position, including 5-8 years in a strategic operations or transport role within the logistics/shipping industry.
Broad shipping knowledge with strong analytical and strategic skills, and a confident, influencing communication style, both written and verbal.
Ability to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders under pressure, with high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
A flexible working style, with willingness to adjust hours in line with operational business needs to help the department meet its KPIs.
Location & Schedule
Full-time position based in Ghana, reporting to the Director (Ghana).
