Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, specialist heart and lung centres in London now part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, run an international nurse recruitment programme now in its seventh year. The programme has brought over 100 overseas nurses into cardiology and respiratory nursing roles across the two sites, and is a rolling pathway rather than a single dated vacancy.
How the Programme Works
Interview and, subject to a job offer, enter a structured programme that prepares you for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), required for Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration to work in the UK
Pass the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) before travelling, then complete the NMC's computer-based theoretical and practical test
Travel to the UK once registered with the NMC to sit the OSCE, supported by five to six weeks of tailor-made tuition at the Trust's dedicated training centre in Harefield
Work across adult and paediatric cardiology and respiratory departments and laboratories at both Royal Brompton and Harefield sites once through the programme
Support Provided
The five-to-six-week OSCE tuition programme, funded by the Trust
A minimum of six months of hospital accommodation, with the first two months free of charge
An airline ticket to the UK and funded immigration health surcharge costs (terms and conditions apply)
A welcome pack on arrival, including an Oyster travel card and supermarket and staff-restaurant vouchers
What You'll Need
A nursing qualification and clinical
gained outside the UK
Willingness to sit the IELTS and NMC computer-based test before travelling, and the OSCE once in the UK
Willingness to relocate to London/Harefield for the programme and subsequent role
