Role Details
About the Role
BRAC Ghana Savings & Loans Ltd (BGSL) is looking for a competent, dynamic and self-motivated IT Service Officer for its Abuakwa branch. The role exists to drive the institution's IT support service work end to end, keeping core banking systems, payment platforms and digital banking channels running reliably for staff and customers alike.
Systems Support & Infrastructure
Monitor and support core banking systems, payment platforms and digital banking channels, troubleshooting issues directly and looping in vendors when needed.
Assist with patching, upgrades and routine maintenance, watching performance and getting ahead of problems before they escalate.
Help keep the IT infrastructure secure and stable, in line with information-security policy and regulatory requirements.
Maintain the hardware, software and licence inventory, and coordinate the installation, configuration and replacement of IT assets with proper documentation throughout.
User Support, Operations & Continuity
Train and guide staff on banking systems and IT tools, and prepare user guides and quick-reference material to back that up.
Carry out daily health checks, backups and routine operational tasks, and help keep key banking services - USSD, EFT switches and the like - running smoothly.
Promote cybersecurity awareness among staff, and liaise with external service providers on maintenance, issues and projects, working closely with internal departments to understand their IT needs.
Support disaster-recovery drills, help maintain backup systems, and safeguard data integrity so systems can be recovered quickly if something goes wrong.
Take part in planning, testing (UAT/SIT) and rolling out new systems or upgrades, and contribute technical input that improves processes and service delivery.
Take on any other duties assigned by the IT Manager.
Safeguarding
Help build a safeguarding culture across the branch by putting BGSL's safeguarding policy into practice and acting as a source of guidance on safeguarding matters; make sure team members are properly trained and supported on safeguarding issues; and follow the safeguarding reporting procedure - and encourage others to do the same - whenever a reportable incident arises.
How Performance Is Tracked
The role is measured against a set of IT and security indicators: cutting critical/high security risks by roughly half over time, keeping residual risk within the institution's risk appetite, hitting risk-remediation timelines (for example, resolving critical risks within 30 days), the share of vendors with completed security assessments, the number of high-risk suppliers, phishing-simulation click-through rates, and the volume of security incidents staff report - a rising trend here is actually a good sign, pointing to a stronger reporting culture.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
At least three years of professional
in IT support, service desk or technical troubleshooting roles.
Hands-on
supporting hardware and software - desktops, laptops, printers, biometric devices and similar equipment.
installing, configuring and maintaining Windows OS, optionally Linux, and enterprise applications; familiarity with T24 is an advantage.
Working knowledge of ITIL frameworks, even at a foundational level, is generally preferred.
handling IT projects such as branch setup, system upgrades or migrations.
Additional strengths that count in your favour: server administration (Windows/Linux), basic virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), basic SQL queries, ITIL-framework basics (incident, problem and change management), backup and recovery handling, and the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users. Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation v4 or basic-level CCNA are an advantage.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering.
