The University of Ghana hereby, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of DIRECTOR, LEGAL AFFAIRS DIRECTORATE, University of Ghana, to take effect from 1st August 2026. POSITION: Director, Legal Affairs Directorate REPORTING TO: Vice-Chancellor THE INSTITUTION: The University of Ghana was established in 1948 to provide higher education, undertake research, disseminate knowledge and to foster relationships with outside persons and bodies. The University of Ghana has a student population of over 70,000 and over 6,000 employees, made up of academic and senior administrative and professional employees, as well as other support staff. The vision of the University is to achieve global impact through innovative research, teaching and learning, using a technology-driven and people-centred approach. Our mission is to create an enabling environment that makes the University of Ghana increasingly relevant to national and global development through cuttingedge research and quality teaching and learning. Job Role The successful applicant shall, under the Vice-Chancellor: •provide legal advice on all University matters; •draft, review or interpret all agreements involving the University; •draft, review or interpret policies involving the University; •represent or ensure appropriate representation of the University in dispute resolution proceedings, including out-of-court settlements. •supervise all external legal services provided to the University to ensure that they meet the highest possible standards; •facilitate the work of disciplinary boards or committees and provide legal support in the conduct of disciplinary proceedings; •facilitate the work of the Appeals Board of the University; •facilitate the work of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the University; •serve on relevant planning and policy making committees of the University; •review University initiatives, decisions and processes for legal compliance •perform any other functions that the Council or the Vice-Chancellor may assign. QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES The successful candidate must have: •A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree •A postgraduate degree in Law •Be enrolled at the Ghana Bar Association •Minimum of 15 years post qualification experience, at least 6 years of which should be at the managerial level •substantial litigation
