POSITION: Head, University Basic School REPORTING TO: he Registrar and the Management Committee of the School THE SCHOOL Established as the University Primary School (UPS) in 1955 with an initial enrolment of 36 pupils, the School moved to its present premises in 1958 as the Demonstration School. The Junior Secondary School was later added in 1987 with an initial enrolment of 68. THE POSITION Reporting to the Registrar and the Management Committee of the School, the Head will oversee the general administration, development and growth of the School as a centre of academic excellence and will be required to provide leadership and exercise initiative in the management of an establishment with a growing student population in a competitive national environment. As a self-financing and self-accounting unit of the University, the Head will be expected to generate income for the School’s operations and be responsible for prudent management of same. DUTIES AND

Staff Supervision and Management •Lead staff mentorship, training initiatives, and continuous professional development programmes. •Provide strategic direction and support to both teaching and non-teaching staff. •Champion the adoption of digital tools to enhance administration. •Foster a culture of motivation, accountability, and effective teamwork among staff. Administration and School Growth •Uphold high standards of discipline, safety, and overall school conduct. •Lead in the use of digital solutions for administrative tasks. •Lead in strategic planning for the School, as well as monitoring and evaluation. •Employ innovative ways to mobilise resources to address infrastructure and funding constraints. Responsibilities
The Head is responsible for providing leadership to the School and for maintaining and promoting efficiency and good order. The Head is also responsible for the general administration of the School in respect of human, financial and material resources within the general framework of the University’s policies. The Head will be responsible for implementing initiatives to ensure the success of learners in school-based and national examinations, as well as improvements in the infrastructure of the School.
