Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, maintenance, optimisation and reliability of automation and process-control systems across the processing plant.
- Maintain high availability of PLC, SCADA and DCS systems while improving automation logic, process stability and plant performance.
- Implement advanced process-control strategies, PID tuning and automation optimisation for crushing, milling, CIL, thickening, elution, tailings and reagent systems.
- Oversee calibration, performance verification, maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and ensure correct integration between instrumentation and control systems.
- Support MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, motor-control systems and power-monitoring systems across the mine.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors and vendors during installations, upgrades, FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup of new process equipment and control systems.
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, lead root-cause analysis on automation failures and track MTBF/MTTR improvements.
- Maintain calibration records, technical drawings, automation documentation and critical spare-parts requirements.
- Build technical training programmes for electrical and automation personnel covering specialised skills, safe operating procedures and maintenance standards.
Requirements
- Recognised degree, advanced diploma or diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from a recognised institution.
- Minerals Commission competency certificate, at least Registered Inspection Engineer level, as stated in the source notice.
- Membership of the Ghana Institution of Engineers will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of Ghana mining electrical safety requirements, including L.I. 2184, LOTO, arc flash prevention and hazardous-area classification.
- Ability to use CMMS platforms such as SAP or Pronto, maintenance KPIs, CAD software and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong communication, supervisory, contractor-management and decision-making skills.
- Must be medically fit for the mining environment and able to work under pressure, extended hours, high-volume workloads and strict deadlines.
