As part of its commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement, the organization is seeking a Plant Automation & Electronics Engineer to oversee the maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of the plant's automation, instrumentation, and electronic control systems. The role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of automated production equipment, minimizing downtime, and

supporting initiatives that enhance productivity, process efficiency, and operational performance. Working closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise in automation, process control, preventive maintenance, and equipment improvement while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

KEY

Responsibilities

• Automation & Control Systems
•  Install, program, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, and other industrial automation systems to ensure reliable plant operations.
•  Monitor and optimise automated production processes to improve equipment performance, productivity, and operational efficiency.
•  Develop, modify, and update automation programs and control logic to meet changing operational and production requirements.
•  Diagnose and resolve faults relating to sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control systems, and other control devices.
•  Support the implementation of automation projects and equipment upgrades to improve plant reliability and process performance.
• Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation
•  Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems across the production facility.
•  Inspect, calibrate, and maintain instruments, transmitters, sensors, measuring devices, and control panels to ensure operational accuracy.
•  Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults on production equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
•  Ensure all electrical installations, maintenance activities, and instrumentation systems comply with applicable safety standards and engineering best practices.
• Production & Operational Support
•  Provide prompt technical support during equipment breakdowns and production interruptions to minimise plant downtime.
•  Collaborate with Production, Workshop, and Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and optimise production processes.
•  Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimise recurring issues.
•  Support plant commissioning, testing, and start-up activities for new equipment and automation systems.
• Continuous Improvement & Engineering Projects
•  Identify opportunities to improve plant automation, process control, energy efficiency,and equipment reliability.
•  Recommend equipment upgrades, process improvements, and automation
• enhancements that improve operational performance and reduce maintenance costs.
•  Participate in engineering projects, plant modifications, and continuous improvement
• initiatives to support business growth.
•  Monitor automation system performance and recommend solutions based on
• operational data and performance trends.
• Compliance, Health, Safety & Documentation
•  Ensure compliance with company policies, electrical safety regulations, and industry
• standards during all engineering and maintenance activities.
•  Promote a strong safety culture by identifying operational risks and implementing
• appropriate corrective measures.
•  Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration reports, equipment history,
• technical drawings, and automation documentation.
•  Prepare technical reports on equipment performance, system failures, maintenance
• activities, and engineering improvement projects.
•  Support internal audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance initiatives relating to
• plant automation and electrical systems.
• QUALIFICATIONS &

Experience

•  Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
•  Professional certifications in PLC Programming, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation & Control, Electrical Safety, or related technical disciplines will be an added advantage.
•  Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive
• in industrial automation, electrical engineering, instrumentation, or electronics maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• 
• working with PLCs, SCADA, HMI systems, industrial instrumentation, motor control systems, and automated production equipment.
•  Practical
• within the manufacturing, construction materials, quarry, cement, or heavy industrial sector will be highly desirable.
•  Sound knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, electrical systems, industrial networking, process control, and automation technologies.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and computerised maintenance management or automation software.
• SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
•  Strong knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and process control systems.
•  Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA, HMI, VFDs, and electrical troubleshooting.
•  Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
•  Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and industrial safety standards.
•  Good project planning, organisation, and time management skills.
•  Ability to analyse technical data and recommend practical engineering solutions.
•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
•  High attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.
•  Ability to work under pressure, respond effectively to equipment breakdowns, and meet operational deadlines.
