Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting
- Prepare proposals for private clients and government projects.
- Estimate the costs of materials, labour, equipment and other resources needed for construction projects, ensuring that proposed budgets align with client financial expectations, government regulations, procurement processes and project requirements.
- Make significant cost-saving recommendations, including cash-flow projections, cost planning, change management, risk assessment and related cost-control measures.
- Tender Documentation
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, project specifications and contractual terms.
- Ensure tender documents are clear, accurate and comply with industry standards and client requirements.
- Handle tendering requirements, estimating, variations, valuations, payment claims, bills of quantities, on-site consultancy, post-contract management, remeasures, contract and claims advice, and development advice.
- Contract Administration
- Assist in drafting contracts for private and government clients, ensuring terms and conditions are fair and transparent.
- Monitor costs, assess variations and manage contractual claims to ensure projects stay within budget and comply with contractual obligations.
- Value Engineering
- Propose value-engineering solutions to optimise costs without compromising quality or functionality.
- Risk Management
- Assess and manage risks associated with cost overruns, delays and unforeseen circumstances during construction projects.
- Client Relationship Management
- Communicate regularly with clients to understand their needs, address concerns and provide updates on project costs and progress.
Requirements
- Award in Quantity Surveying with knowledge of tendering processes.
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field will have an advantage.
- Five years of proven
Experience
- working as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in construction cost-estimating software such as CCS Candy and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of contract and construction regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
