About the Job
The Transport Specialist is responsible for planning and optimizing all product movements, centered around ensuring timely deliveries to offtakers, efficient internal transfers, and high fleet utilization, while monitoring performance, costs, compliance, and continuous improvement across the transport network.
Key
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the weekly transport plan to ensure close to 100% On Time, In Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
- Lead coordination meetings with Operations and Logistics teams for clear weekly scheduling.
- Plan and schedule daily and weekly internal product transfers between hubs, mega hubs, and warehouses.
- Allocate company-owned, rented, and contractor vehicles to meet delivery and internal movement needs.
- Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, maintenance schedules, and vehicle availability.
- Maintain transport documentation (permits, logs, maintenance records, insurance).
- Coordinate driver assignments, performance expectations, and compliance with company policies.
- Analyze transport cost-per-ton, fleet utilization, downtime, and routing performance for continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with transport providers and negotiate service terms and tariffs.
- Support the rollout and ongoing use of Transport Management System (TMS), Odoo, and data dashboards.
- Track transport budget performance, route economics, and monthly cost reporting by carrier.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years proven
Experience
- in transportation planning, fleet coordination, logistics operations, or supply chain management.
- working with Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs), truck suppliers, or commodity logistics is an advantage.
- Proficiency in ERP / TMS platforms (e.g., Odoo) and data reporting tools (Excel dashboards, Google Sheets, BI tools).
- Knowledge of local and national transport regulations, licensing, and safety requirements.
- Must be willing to travel frequently between hubs, warehouses, and partner sites, and to live and work in rural environments for extended periods.
- A license to operate a motorcycle in Ghana (or willingness to get one).
