- The Farm & R&D Officer will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of Talmond’s own farm, which serves both as a productive tropical almond farm and as a platform for research and development.
- Essential
Responsibilities
- include: Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities on Talmond’s own farm.
- Actively participate in practical farm work, including weeding, planting, pruning, maintenance and other field activities as required.
- Monitor tree growth, plant health, farm activities, yields and overall farm performance.
- Implement Talmond’s existing farm monitoring system and ensure that data is collected consistently and reliably.
- Contribute to the further development and improvement of monitoring methods, indicators and R&D activities.
- Support and implement on-farm R&D trials and experiments.
- Collect, organize, structure and analyse farm and R&D data using appropriate digital tools.
- Prepare regular reports on farm performance, R&D activities, results and recommendations.
- Identify practical challenges and opportunities on the farm and contribute to developing solutions and improvements.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee harvesting activities, ensuring the quality of the harvested produce.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of sustainable and agroforestry-based farming practices.
- Document lessons learned and support the transfer of relevant findings to Talmond’s farmer and collector network.
- Work closely with Talmond management, the Extension Services team and external agricultural experts where required.
- Support other Talmond field activities in Ghana when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- – Candidate Minimum
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agroforestry, Plant Science or a related field.
- A Master's degree in the above areas is an added advantage. Minimum 5 years of practical
Experience
in farming, farm management or agricultural projects.
Hands-on farming experience; practical
with agroforestry systems is highly desirable.
with agricultural research, trials or field monitoring is an advantage.
Strong data management and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel.
Good report writing and documentation skills.
Ability to combine practical farming
with a structured and analytical approach.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and solve practical problems.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work primarily in the field and travel within Ghana when required.

Position Location
The position will be based at Talmond’s own farm near Manguase in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The successful candidate will be expected to reside in either Koforidua, Tinkong or Manguase and commute to the farm on a daily basis. A willingness to live in a more remote, rural setting is considered a plus.
