Role Details
M-KOPA's finance and risk leadership are looking for an internal auditor who can be trusted to run a full engagement alone, from the first conversation with a business unit to the signed-off report, across four of the company's African markets - Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda. The Internal Audit Senior reports to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk and effectively acts as the department's coverage on the ground in whichever of those countries needs it next.
Key
will not be considered, whatever else is on the CV.
Beyond that, M-KOPA wants someone with a genuine history of running audits solo rather than as one member of a larger team, covering both ordinary business-process work and more technical, systems-heavy territory.
On paper, that means a degree touching business, IT or information systems, plus one of CIA, CISA, ACCA or CPA.

- Plan and carry an audit through to completion using Institute of Internal Auditors standards, with enough seniority to set your own pace and judge for yourself when the evidence is solid enough to build a finding on.
- Get to the bottom of why something actually went wrong instead of stopping at the first visible crack, then be honest about how serious that underlying risk really is.
- Write findings up in a way that gives the business something it can genuinely act on, and be ready to defend that conclusion face to face if a manager pushes back on it.
- Have a hand in shaping next year's audit plan by flagging where the real exposure in the business sits, and help newer members of the audit team learn the craft along the way.
- Expect real time on planes and in different offices, since the role is not tied to one country and each market has its own way of doing things.
