The role is a senior leadership appointment for a marketer who can connect commercial strategy with pharmaceutical market realities. The successful candidate will own marketing plans, guide brand and product-portfolio management, develop market-development initiatives and lead teams and agencies through disciplined execution. This position requires more than campaign supervision. It calls for a director who can evaluate product opportunities, work closely with sales and regulatory functions, manage budgets, shape launch priorities and ensure all marketing activity supports business growth while respecting pharmaceutical requirements. The role also needs a leader who can build capable teams, coach marketing talent, use market research and analytics, and represent marketing decisions confidently to senior management. Candidates should be comfortable leading in a regulated industry where product claims, customer trust, healthcare compliance and commercial performance all matter at the same time.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing strategies, annual plans and execution priorities for assigned brands and products.
- Lead brand, product and portfolio management, including product positioning, launch plans and market-development activity.
- Drive market growth, product penetration, customer awareness and brand performance across target channels.
- Oversee market research, campaign planning, digital marketing, communications and competitor analysis.
- Identify new market opportunities and guide product launches with clear commercial and regulatory alignment.
- Manage marketing budgets, performance indicators, campaign returns and team output.
- Collaborate with sales, regulatory, finance, supply chain and other internal functions to support effective execution.
- Ensure marketing initiatives comply with FDA requirements and applicable pharmaceutical regulations.
- Lead and develop marketing staff, agencies and external partners to deliver agreed business goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Communications or a related field.
- MBA, master's degree or professional marketing certification will be an advantage.
- Eight to ten years of marketing experience, including three to five years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare or FMCG industries; pharmaceutical or healthcare experience is preferred.
- Proven experience in brand or product management, market development and product launches.
- Strong understanding of the Ghanaian market and pharmaceutical regulatory environment is an advantage.
- Strategic and commercial thinking, leadership, digital marketing, negotiation and execution skills.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to translate market insight into practical commercial plans.
Strong leadership across brand, product, agency and cross-functional teams.
Sound judgement around regulated marketing, budget ownership and campaign performance.
