Role Details
The Bank Hospital is recruiting a People & Culture Manager to strengthen employee engagement, performance management, internal communication and organisational culture. The role sits within the Human Resources function and reports to the Human Resources Manager. It is designed for an HR professional who can make culture and performance practical, measurable and visible across a healthcare environment. The manager will own the performance cycle, staff-engagement agenda and employee-experience insights that help the hospital remain a place where people want to work and where patient service promises are supported by staff behaviour. The role calls for someone who can work through managers, guide appraisal discipline, run surveys, interpret workforce data, communicate clearly and follow through on action plans. Because the hospital depends on clinical, administrative and support teams working together, the successful candidate must be credible across departments and resilient enough to keep performance, engagement and communication processes moving to completion.
Key responsibilities
- Own and run the annual performance-management cycle for permanent staff, including objective setting, mid-year reviews and year-end appraisals.
- Operate simplified periodic reviews for regular locum or sessional staff and keep departments aligned on review timelines.
- Cascade hospital business objectives into departmental and individual objectives connected to patient experience, quality and cost.
- Publish the performance calendar, track completion and report overdue appraisals by department to HR and management leadership.
- Coordinate performance-improvement plans and hand over capability or disciplinary matters where required.
- Run annual employee-engagement surveys and quarterly pulse checks across permanent and locum staff.
- Turn survey findings into departmental action plans with owners, dates and follow-up tracking.
- Embed hospital values and service behaviours into recruitment, induction, appraisal and recognition activity.
- Run stay interviews, exit interviews, early-attrition reviews and retention analysis for critical roles.
- Support internal communication through staff briefings, newsletters, CEO durbars and clear communication of HR policy changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Organisational Development, Communications or a related discipline.
- Five to six years of experience in performance management, employee engagement, organisational development or internal communication.
- Demonstrated experience running a full appraisal cycle in an organisation with several hundred staff.
- Practical survey-design and data-analysis capability, including the ability to build and interpret an engagement index.
- Experience in healthcare or another direct customer-service environment will be an advantage.
- Strong writing, communication, project-management, leadership and cross-functional influence skills.
- High integrity, professionalism, creativity, proactivity and the ability to work collaboratively.
Knowledge and Skills
Credibility with line managers and ability to deliver culture and performance outcomes through others.
Energy and visibility across departments, with resilience to drive appraisal and engagement cycles to completion.
Analytical honesty in interpreting employee feedback, survey data and retention indicators.
