Project: CMR Ballroom Truss and Roof Replacement, proposed to the U.S. Department of State / Overseas Buildings Operations
B360™ is seeking expressions of interest from qualified Project Engineers for a proposal-stage U.S. Government roof and structural-truss replacement project in Accra, Ghana.
The position is project-specific and contingent upon contract award and Government approval.
The Project Engineer will provide technical leadership for the replacement of existing wood roof framing with new structural-steel trusses and purlins, together with new decking, insulation, sheet-metal roofing panels, flashings, gutters, rainwater leaders, and associated restoration work.
Key
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, existing conditions, calculations, shop drawings, product data, and technical submittals.
- Coordinate structural-steel detailing, fabrication, delivery, temporary support, erection, bolting, welding, and field inspection.
- Verify dimensions, levels, alignments, connections, tolerances, and interfaces with existing construction.
- Evaluate construction loads, temporary conditions, lifting and erection sequences, and stability requirements.
- Coordinate the structural-steel work with roofing, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and drainage systems.
- Resolve RFIs, field conflicts, nonconformances, and technical discrepancies.
- Support quality-control inspections, testing, as-built documentation, punch-list completion, and final acceptance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in structural or civil engineering.
- Professional engineering registration or eligibility for registration is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated
Experience
- with structural-steel trusses, roof replacement, steel fabrication and erection, or comparable rehabilitation work.
- Familiarity with AISC requirements, welding and bolting inspection, temporary works, and construction quality control.
- in Ghana or comparable West African operating conditions.
- U.S. Government, diplomatic-facility, or occupied-building
- is an advantage.
- Strong English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
