Design & Technology Institute is recruiting a Senior Facilities Manager to keep its campus, workshops, learning spaces and support facilities safe, functional and well maintained. This role is important in a practical training institution because facilities are part of the learning environment: classrooms, laboratories, workshops, utilities, equipment areas and shared spaces must be reliable enough to support daily teaching, learner safety and institutional operations.

The successful candidate will need to combine technical facilities knowledge with planning, vendor supervision, preventive maintenance and strong operational follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day facilities operations, maintenance planning, repairs, inspections and service coordination across the Institute.
  • Develop and monitor preventive maintenance routines for buildings, utilities, workshops, fixtures, equipment support areas and campus infrastructure.
  • Supervise internal facilities staff, contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, on time and to the required standard.
  • Manage facilities records, work orders, maintenance schedules, asset information, incident reports and operational budgets.
  • Support health, safety, security, hygiene and environmental standards across learning, office and residential or shared-use spaces where applicable.
  • Identify facility risks early and recommend practical improvements that reduce downtime, repair costs and disruption to teaching or operations.
  • Work with academic, administrative and procurement teams on space planning, equipment needs, vendor follow-up and facilities-related projects.
  • Candidate Profile
  • Strong background in facilities management, maintenance operations, engineering services, estate management or a related technical field.
  • Experience supervising contractors, maintenance teams and multi-site or campus-style facilities work.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance, safety requirements, budgeting, asset records and service-level follow-up.
  • Ability to prioritise urgent issues while still maintaining long-term facilities plans.
  • Clear communication, leadership, problem-solving and documentation skills.
