Requirements
- Conduct pre-start, daily, and routine inspections of the crane and report any defects or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Interpret and adhere to hand signals, radio communications, and instructions from authorized riggers and supervisors during lifting operations.
- Ensure all lifting equipment, slings, shackles, hooks, and accessories are inspected and fit for purpose before use.
- Maintain accurate records of crane inspections, operational checks, maintenance requirements, and lifting activities.
- Ensure strict enforcement of filling of risk assessment form in the logbook provided before commencement of any job.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily tower crane inspection activities to support plant availability.
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and grappling devices.
- Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities in order to prevent overload.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors, problems, or defects.
- Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to support plant availability and planned maintenance activities.
- Report all accidents and incidents, particularly near misses, and participate in the investigation process.
Experience
- • Minimum of 1-3 years working
- operating 20 tone tower cranes in a mining environment, specifically within a processing plant.
- Knowledge & Skills
- • Good understanding of crane operating signals.
- • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify defects or problems.
- • Strong safety focus, including reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses and participating in investigations.
- • Good interpersonal and human relations skills with the ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
- • Strong work ethic, physical energy, and ability to work long hours while maintaining quality standards.
