Job Description
The role is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and repair of metal structures, equipment, and components required to support plant or site operations. The position ensures all welding and fabrication activities are executed safely, accurately, and in accordance with engineering specifications, quality requirements, and established safety standards.
Key
Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks using approved methods such as ARC, MIG, TIG and gas welding.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair metal structures, frames, pipes, chutes, guards and related plant equipment.
- Interpret fabrication drawings, technical schematics and engineering specifications accurately.
- Carry out cutting, grinding, bending and fitting operations on metal components.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.
- Respond to breakdowns and assist with shutdown maintenance activities to reduce operational downtime.
- Maintain all welding tools, equipment, and work areas in good and safe working condition.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, permit-to-work systems and PPE usage.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to support ongoing operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Experience
& Key Competencies
Welding & Fabrication Certificate Part II or City and Guilds apprenticeship certificate or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Valid Welding and Fabrication Technician Competency Certificate from the Minerals Commission.
Minimum of three (3) years post‑apprenticeship
in pipe fabrication/fitting within a mining or extractive metallurgy environment.
Innovative, results-oriented and proactive in problem‑solving.
Strong proficiency in pipe fabrication and fitting in an industrial or mining setting.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply fabrication drawings and measurement specifications.
Excellent knowledge of welding processes, materials and safety best practices.
Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
Ability to work in multi-cultural environment and respect other people values and opinions.
